Terms & Conditions

GENERAL

Contracting SkooterTrans constitutes agreement with these terms and conditions, amending/superceding other conditions or contracts.

Bill of Lading signed by customer or authorized person required at pick up (driver is authorized by default). Payment & signed Bill of Lading required at delivery, before unloading/disconnecting, unless other arrangements/contracts are applicable.

If towing or driving your equipment, charges incurred for repairs to customer equipment (flats, mechanical failures, etc…) during transport will be additionally charged. This includes equipment for Power Only jobs. SkooterTrans does not lease/rent customer equipment nor does it use customer equipment for its own loads. Customer equipment is considered part of the cargo, thus is covered under SkooterTrans’ cargo insurance and not trailer interchange.

If SkooterTrans’ driver is required to operate customer equipment, $50 will be added to the transport charges. SkooterTrans will not be liable for damage(s) to customer equipment.

If a temp tag or other permit is required for a move, accurate load description, weight, and dimensions must be submitted prior to dispatching driver. Expenses for these items are additional to the transport charges. SkooterTrans charges $20 to acquire these items. If a load is a vehicle, trailer or RV, license tag and/or VIN is also needed. Documentation of ownership is also helpful.

If no 3rd party is used for payment escrow (eBay, uShip, etc…), 50% the proposed charges are required prior to pick up with the balance due at delivery.

If a “Days to Pay” contract applies, late fees begin accrual at 90 days from original scheduled pay date. Late fee is the greater of $25 or 10% of balance for each part of a 30 day period the balance remains unpaid.

SkooterTrans will charge a fee and nullify/void any rate confirmation(s) and/or contract(s) if the shipment is not as described, ready for transport/loading, or otherwise refused by the driver for a reasonable cause. This includes delays that interfere with other shipment schedules. This determination is made solely by SkooterTrans and is dependent upon circumstances and miles traveled. The minimum fee is $200. Please be certain your shipment is accurately described so there are no surprises. For instance, if you describe a shipment as weighing 2500lbs and it clearly is in excess of 5000lbs, we have a problem. If you state the shipment location as a business and clearly it is not, we may have access problems, particularly if it is a residence.

These Terms & Conditions do not cover every possible situation. When not specifically addressed, SkooterTrans will make every effort to satisfy the customer while protecting its own interests.

SkooterTrans uses a single phone app for shipment tracking; Life360. There are far too many others to keep up with. SkooterTrans can provide a link to this app if requested by the customer. Phone or text is the most common method customers use to track shipments which SkooterTrans transports.

DETENTION POLICY

Delays are sometimes unavoidable. It is, however, possible to plan for many. This policy is a guide for determining when/if surcharges are to be applied for the unexpected delay. Providing SkooterTrans with adequate/accurate shipment details (dimensions, weight, location, access, special considerations, etc…) will allow a most accurate bid for your shipment while helping avoid these additional charges.

As a general rule:

  • Customer has 30 minutes to commence loading/unloading after SkooterTrans arrives and contacts the shipper/receiver.
  • Customer has 60 minutes to complete loading/unloading.
  • The clock starts when loading/unloading begins.
  • The clock stops when a shipment is ready for securement or the driver is otherwise free to depart.

$50 for each part of a 30-minute increment beyond the aforementioned times will be added to the agreed transport charges.

Assessment of this surcharge is the sole discretion of SkooterTrans.

Every reasonable effort will be made by SkooterTrans to avoid circumstances leading to application of this surcharge. SkooterTrans may agree to customer’s own detention terms on a case by case basis. Power Only jobs will always be subject to SkooterTrans detention terms.

It is incumbent upon the customer/shipper/receiver to insure shipment preparedness.

Detention may force a change in the delivery date/time for which SkooterTrans will not be responsible.

Customer contracting SkooterTrans is responsible for these charges.

All I ask is that you supply accurate information so no one is surprised. Minor changes are expected and are no problem.
